Hey Wade! What's Up With the Green Feet?

Many of you have asked. “What’s up with the green feet?” The origin of the green feet symbol came from Vietnam, when the USAF HH-3E helicopter, also known as the Jolly Green Giant, would land in the rice paddies and grass fields, leaving huge impressions that looked like giant green footprints.

Today, it’s a symbol of Air Force Search and Rescue heritage and a symbol of pride for those of us who served and supported the Air Force Search and Rescue mission. In the mid-1990s, I was lucky enough to be stationed at Vandenberg AFB and fly helicopter search and rescue missions all over Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Kern Counties, and work with the amazing First Responders that are still providing that support today in these amazing Central Coast Communities. I loved every minute of my time in Air Force Rescue and am proud to have played a small role in saving lives!

So, when you see my signs with my signature and the green feet, think about all the amazing heroes in our Central Coast communities serving all of us every day, should we need them. “These Things we do that others may live."
